Tariku Bekele (ETH)
It's incredible what happened tonight. My brother was really tremendous and I helped him to brake the wold record. I couldn't dream about that. I gave everything as I ran a 5.000 meters. After the race he seemed so happy, I was so happy that we didn't find the right words. We don't needed it.

"This WJR is a result of hard training, very hard training. I ran my former world junior record in Japan: 27'08". This was my first race in Europe and I win almost 26 seconds. This progression is the result of hard work: but I want to be like Bekele: I try to do like Bekele."

Youssef Saad Kamel (BRN)
"Last year I already won in Berlin and Monaco and I finished second in Zurich. But this was my best result for 2005, so I think this second place is a positive result. I even thought I could win, because nobody came near me in the last 50 metres; And suddenly he was there: he must have given it a very strong kick. I dont' know where he came from."

Eliud Kipchoge (KEN)
"The Morroccon almost surprised me on the finish line, but I was not scared. Normally I never lose to him, because I feel able to run a faster time. I had planned to run close to 12.40."

Sergey Makarov (RUS)
"I'm very pleased with this victory for two reason. First because I never had good results in Brussels before. Secondly beacuse this is my first Golden League victory of this season."

Ronald Pognon (FRA)

Dwight Thomas (JAM)
"I'm a little disappointed because of my start. A reaction time of .196 is really not good. So I didn't come out of my blocks as I should. In the end I came closing in, but that was far too late."

Tatyana Andrianova (RUS)
"I felt a little tired: I had many races this season and every race becomes a little harder. Usually i am faster than Martinez, but today not."

Daniel Komen Kipchirchir (KEN)
"I knew I could produce a very fast last lap. I knew I was able to beat the world champion. In fact i should have beaten him at the World Championships. Maybe it would have been even better if I took the second place here and the first place at the World championships."

Brandon Simpson (JAM)
I feel verry happy with this victory and especially with my personal best. I felt relax during the race and I got off really fast, as I usually do. I definitely wanted to win this one, but you know it is very hard these days to stay ahead of the others. In the home straight I felt a little tight, but I didn't know Tim (Benjamin) was so close. In the WC final I cramped and in Helsinki as well as in Zurich conditions were very bad becaause of the weather. Here it was a little chilly, but I felt OK, very relaxed.u

European leader ? That was me anyway, but I like this track in Brussels. OK, it's hard to compete against those American and Carraiben guys, but I'm doing a lot of hard work to, so it's trying again and again.

Michael Blackwood (JAM)
I finished fourth but in the same time as the third one. In a way, I'm satisfied because it's my personnal best but on the other hand I felt I could grap a place on the podium. I'm achieving a good season

Lashinda Demus (USA)
I'm satisfied about my victory, not really about the time. I feel very good at this moment and I think I deserved this victory. My start was good, my finish excellent. Now it's Berlin and Monaco, then completly deserved vacation!

Meseret Defar (ETH)
"I'm extremely happy with this African record. During the race I never thought about the time, I was only fighting. But there were so many girls pushing, that we had to run a very fast race. It was definitely my best win of the season."

Susanne Wigene (NOR)
14.48.53: not yet a Norwegian record. Ingrid Kristiansen you know... But this is my PB by more than 5 seconds. If there is an explication why Marius Bakken and myself are the best European distance runners right now ? Trainig, training, training.
