The Antwerp sports palace was full for the final. The crowd could witness some sublime baseline tennis at both sides of the net. The players held their serve, until the defending champion obtained a 3-2 lead. Clijsters lost her serve for the first time. Williams compensated her increasing number of direct faults, with her killing serve. After 29 minutes the American captured the first set 6-2.

Kim was determined to fight back. The winner of the Masters immediately went through Venus' serve but Venus captured a re-break. Clijsters made too much errors to be of any threat to Venus and in no time, the American leaded 4-1. Venus kept hitting awesome serves and could serve for the match at 5-3. Kim fought back, and broke through the American's serve. Venus, however immediately took a re-break and captured the second set and match (6-2 en 6-4).

This victory made the American 93,000 dollar richer. If Venus Williams wins the Proximus Diamond Games one more time in a three year span, the golden racquet with 1,700 diamonds , is hers.
