| Venus erases Hantuchova 15/02/03 |
Venus Williams will
cross swords with Kim Clijsters in the final of the Proximus Diamond Games.
In the semis, the American humbled Daniela Hantuchova in
two sets.
It was quite obvious that Hantuchova couldn't handle Venus Williams' pace
in the first set. The Slovakian tried to score with subtle drops but every
effort was in vain as Williams returned the balls at an incredible speed
and with unseen power. In no time, Venus had captured the first set.
In the second set , Hantuchova and Williams each won three games but then
the American raced to a 5-3 lead. Williams could serve for the match but
the Slovakian managed to save three match points and came back to 5-4.
At 5-4, Venus could serve for the match for the fourth time, and this one
was the right one for the American.
Venus can now prepare herself for a final against the darling of the crowd
Kim Clijsters.

| Kim Clijsters tops Justine Henin-Hardenne 16/02/03 |
In the all Belgian semi-final , it was an ill Kim
Clijsters who outlasted Justine Henin-Hardenne 6-2,
7-6.
In the first set, Clijsters was in total control. She
determined the pace, which was often too high for
Henin-Hardenne. The latter made a lot more unforced
errors , of which Clijsters took the benefit.
In the second set, Henin-Hardenne was forced to take
risks when Clijsters broke through her serve.
Clijsters raced to a 4-1 lead, but then Henin started
fighting back. She equalised the score 5-5 and pushed
the set into a tie-break. In that tie-break,Clijsters
had that little extra with which she earned her ticket
to the final.

After having qualified for the sinles' final, Kim
Clijsters also qualified for the final of the doubles.
With her partner Ai Sugiyama she squashed the duo
Dokic/Bedanova in two sets
Both in the first and second set, Sugiyama and Clijsters were absolutely
too powerful for their opponents. They made a true performance of their
semi final , with long rallies and some awesome shots.
In the second set, the dominance of Clijsters/Sugiyama got even bigger.
Dokic and Bedanova couldn't keep their serve one single time, which meant
they were sent packing very rapidly.
